Marigold Wedding Photography
Brand Identity
Brand identity developed for my client James Morris, a wedding photographer who needed a brand overhaul.
James’ beautiful, high-fashion, elegant photography needed a brand that aligned with his world-class work.
The brief was Old Hollywood, shades of blue, and jaguars. Plus, it needed a name.
Along with the visual identity of the brand, I had the privilege of conceptualising the name of the business too.
After a top-level list of about 100 names, James and myself narrowed down our favourites and eventually landed on ‘Marigold’.
The vibrant colours of marigold flowers are thought to evoke feelings of warmth and affection, making them suitable for love-related rituals and ceremonies. The double connotation of ‘marry–gold’ was also a subtle nod to the wedding industry Marigold operates in.
Avoiding a perhaps more expected colour palette of warm oranges and yellows, which seemed expected for a brand called 'Marigold’, I opted for a deeper more regal colour palette.
